Michael Jackson’s chimp Bubbles has retired — right here in Florida.

Bubbles, the chimpanzee who became one of the most famous primates in the world as Michael Jackson’s companion in the 1980s, has spent the past two decades quietly living at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida — about two hours south of Winter Garden. Now 42 years old, Bubbles spends his days painting, socializing with other chimps, and enjoying the Florida sunshine, a far cry from his pop-star days. Fox 35 Orlando took a look at the remarkable second act of a Hollywood legend who chose the Sunshine State for his golden years.
