State lawmakers are proposing $750,000 in funding for the Central Florida Zoo as it continues managing the ongoing Sloth World rescue — an operation that has strained the zoo’s resources since animals were removed from the struggling roadside attraction weeks ago. The zoo has extended quarantine for the rescued sloths while veterinarians monitor their recovery, and the proposed state dollars would help cover the unexpected costs of the expanded operation. It’s a welcome development for a zoo that stepped up when it mattered.
